In 2023, you can gift the following amounts tax-free:

As of 2023, the increased gift exemption for owner-occupied housing has been significantly reduced. A gift of no more than €28,947 to someone between the ages of 18 and 40 is exempt if it is used for their own home. It does not matter who the donor is.
If a sum of money was donated for the owner-occupied home in 2021 or 2022, but the full maximum amount has not yet been used, then there are possibilities to increase the amount in 2023 up to the maximum.
For gifts to children, there are also the following additional options. If your child is between 18 and 40 years old, then
  • Can you make a one-off gift of €28,947 without it necessarily having to be spent on your own home.
  • You may also make a one-off gift of €60,298, provided that any amount exceeding €28,947 is used for an expensive study for your child.
  • If parents make separate gifts, these amounts must be added together. This also applies if parents are divorced.
